New Delhi: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha, arrested in connection with the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, spent her first night in Tihar jail, according to official sources on Wednesday.
Assigned to a cell shared by two other female inmates in jail number six, a dedicated women’s prison section, Kavitha experienced the routine fare of prison food. Sources from Tihar jail revealed that on Tuesday night, she consumed dal and rice, similar to what other inmates were served. For breakfast on Wednesday morning, she had tea with snacks.
Kavitha was transferred to Tihar jail on Tuesday evening following a Delhi court’s decision to remand her to judicial custody until April 9. The decision came after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) presented arguments that her release could potentially lead to witness tampering and evidence manipulation due to her perceived high influence.
Upon arrival, Kavitha underwent medical examinations before being escorted directly to her cell. While her initial medical checkup indicated slightly low blood pressure, it normalized shortly after.
The arrest and subsequent detention of K Kavitha mark a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the alleged money laundering activities linked to the Delhi excise policy. As the legal proceedings unfold, further insights into the case are anticipated.
