
Hyderabad, Dec.9 (NSS): Former MLA of Vemulawada Chennamaneni Ramesh Babu has received a blow in the Telangana High Court in his sensational citizenship case. The High Court expressed its displeasure over the attempts of Ramesh to mislead it. Chennamaneni Ramesh’s petition was dismissed by the HC.
The case was heard in the High Court for ten-and-a-half years. During the hearing, the court observed that false information was given to the court and forged documents were submitted. Chennamaneni Ramesh was fined Rs 30 lakh by the High Court. The High Court has ordered to pay Rs 25 lakh to Adi Srinivas and another Rs 5 lakh has been ordered to be paid to the High Court Legal Service Authority. The court directed Chennamaneni Ramesh to complete the payments within a month. Ramesh’s lawyer sought that the order be kept under suspension for a month.
The High Court asked on what passport Chennamaneni Ramesh was travelling on all these days. Chennamaneni’s lawyer told the court that he had travelled on a German passport. The lawyer said he still has a German passport. Chennamaneni’s lawyer said the passport was not standard to decide on the citizenship of the former MLA. The court asked if he had an Indian passport, the lawyer of Ramesh told the HC that he did not have it.
Chennameni Ramesh made his political debut in 2009. The Rajanna Sircilla district politics cannot be seen without Chennamaneni families. Chennamaneni’s political career began from Nagaram in Konaraopeta mandal of Vemulawada constituency, was very ambitious. Ramesh Babu entered direct politics as former MLA Rajeshwar Rao’s successor and he has been winning consecutive elections. Ramesh Babu is also active in the BRS party.
In the 2009 general elections, Ramesh Babu contested as the TDP candidate from Vemulawada and it was Srinivas who was defeated by Ramesh in the elections. Srinivas approached the High Court alleging that Ramesh Babu had obtained citizenship with false certificates that his election as the MLA was invalid
