CM REVANTH DEFENDS INSTALLATION OF RAJIV GANDHI’S STATUE IN FRONT OF SECRETARIAT

Hyderabad, Aug.20 (NSS): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has defended the Congress party’s decision to install former prime minister late Rajiv Gandhi’s statue in front of the Telangana Secretariat and said that there is no question of going back on the decision despite a few people being opposed on the installation of statue due to vested interests.

Speaking at the meeting organised to mark Rajiv Gandhi birth anniversary at Somajiguda Circle here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that the installation of Rajiv Gandhi’s statue next to Telangana Martyrs Memorial would be inspirational to the next generation and also threatened of dire consequences if any one touched Rajiv Gandhi’s statue.

“Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is an inspiration. He introduced technology to the country in the 1980s. With the inspiration of Mahatma Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi had strengthened the Panchayati Raj system through Constitutional amendments. He brought many reforms for women to excel in politics. We will install a statue of Rajiv Gandhi, who sacrificed his life for the country, in front of the Secretariat at any cost,” Revanth Reddy asserted.

Coming down heavily on BRS leaders for threatening to remove the statue of Rajiv Gandhi if their party is voted to power in the next Assembly election, the Chief Minister said that the BRS leaders would be slapped with chappals and thrashed.

“After installation of Rajiv Gandhi statue, let them announce a date. Our TPCC working president Jagga Reddy and others will also turn up. Even before anyone touches the statue, we will make them understand the consequences,” Revanth Reddy said.

He further stated that the people of Telangana have already tought a fitting lesson to the BRS by defeating in both Assembly and Parliament elections, but

Former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and his son KT Rama Rao are not learning any lessons.

In a veiled attack at BRS working president KT Rama Rao, the Chief Minister said that he was planning to install the statue of his father and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, but thieves and drunkards have no place in front of the Secretariat.
