CM Revanth praises NIMS doctors for saving life of tribal youth

Hyderabad, May 26 (NSS): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has praised the doctors of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) for saving the life of a tribal youth by surgically removing an arrow that was lodged on his chest.

Sodi Nanda (17) from Usur area of Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, belonging to Gutti Koya tribe, was accidentally pierced by an arrow a week ago. The family members took the victim to Bhadrachalam Hospital and then Warangal MGM as the arrow landed right in the middle of the heart and lungs. However, as the condition worsened, the doctors advised to take him to NIMS, Hyderabad.

Dr Amareswara Rao, Head, Cardiothoracic (CT) surgery, NIMS, and Dr. Gopal conducted the initial diagnosis and later undertook a marathon surgery that lasted for nearly four hours, resulting in the removal of arrow from the body of tribal youth.

The doctors revealed that the young man is currently healthy and there is no danger to his life.

In a statement on  ‘X’ on Sunday, the Chief Minister said the NIMS has once again proved the faith of common people in the institution.

“In the future, I want NIMS to provide more extensive medical services and become known as a temple for the poor,” Revanth Reddy said. (NSS)
