
Hyderabad, Sept.2 (NSS): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the heavy rain caused damages mainly the crops and loss of life in Telangana as the national calamity.
The Chief Minister directed Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to write a letter requesting the Prime Minister to visit the flood hit areas in Telangana which suffered a huge loss of life, crops and property damages.
He held a review on floods and relief operations with senior officers at the Central Command Control office here on Monday and enquired the Meteorological Department ( IMD) about the reasons for very heavy rains in a very short time and the rain forecast for the next few days.
He announced the ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakhs has been increased to Rs 5 Lakh to each family of the deceased in the heavy rains and floods. Compensation for each milking cattle loss also increased to Rs 50,000 from Rs 30,000 and for goat and sheep. Similarly, the State government will provide Rs 5,000 compensation as against Rs 3,000, he informed.
Later, the Chief Minister inspected a photo exhibition on the crop damage at Mothe village in Suryapet district and attended the district review meeting. He enquired about the loss of crops due to the breach of Nagarjuna Sagar’s left canal. Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Uttam Kumar Reddy and elected representatives from the erstwhile Nalgonda district accompanied the Chief Minister.
On the occasion, Revanth Reddy announced Rs.5.crore of immediate assistance to the Suryapet district.
After that, the Chief Minister inspected the Paleru left canal and damaged crop fields in Paleru Assembly constituency of Khammam district. He also inspected the flood affected colonies of Munneru canal and spoke to the victims. Later, a review meeting was held at the District Collectorate where he reviewed the flood situation in the district.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, MLAs and top officials were present.
