CM should withdraw his comments: Vinod Kumar

Hyderabad, Aug.4 (NSS):BRS party leader & former MP Vinod Kumar today demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy withdraw his remarks on teachers of private schools.

Addressing media persons at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, he criticized the CM for his remarks at the recent government teachers’ meet. He said CM Revanth Reddy was saying that there were teachers, who have failed in class 10 in the private schools. He said there should be trained teachers in all the private schools under the Right to Education Act. “Many schools have trained teachers. Wherever CM Revanth goes, all those present there will be praised generally by him,” he said. “In today’s competitive world, the people were sending their children to the private schools and added that CM Revanth would also send his grandchildren to the private schools.

“I don’t see government and private teachers separately. The CM has made derogatory remarks against the private sector teachers for the sake of the appreciation of the government teachers. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made derogatory remarks against the teachers in the private sector for the sake of the earning some appreciation,” he alleged and demanded that a law be brought in for teaching and non-teaching staff working in all educational institutions from KG to PG as per the provisions of the Right to Education Act, which came into force in August 2009.

“Education has become a fundamental right through a constitutional amendment. There are a total of 50 lakh students in the private and the government schools. Of this, 51 per cent are in the private sector. In this academic year, 2 lakh students have gone from the government schools to the private schools,” he said. He suggested that the CM should pay attention to this issue. He said that they  would  hold a meeting with one lakh private teachers and put pressure on the government on behalf of the BRS for a law soon. He also said that the welfare law for lawyers was enacted at the initiative of former speaker G Narayana Rao in the past and added that It was being implemented in all the states. Private teachers should also have a protection law, he demanded.
