
Hyderabad, Aug.23 (NSS):A team of well-known scientists and clinicians from city-based Genome Foundation (GF) under the leadership of Dr K P C Gandhi met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his office on Thursday and appraised him of the ongoing activities of Genome Foundation that has led to initiate the setting up of a novel healthcare centre “Genomic Wellness Centre for Integrative Medicine” in Hyderabad.
Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, then CM of United Andhra Pradesh had allotted 4.13 acres of land in Medipally, Medchal-Malkajgiri district for this noble cause. The team has requested the Chief Minister to lay foundation stone for a new building complex to house state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure for the proposed Centre. Revanth Reddy readily agreed to lay the foundation stone on October 9 and assured the team of full support from his Government. He also expressed that this advanced medical facility would serve the rural patients across the State and especially in the Uppal-Warangal highway zone besides those coming from other parts of the country.
The team includes Dr B Somaraju, a well-known cardiologist, Dr D Prasadrao, cardiothoracic surgeon and former director, NIMS, Prof P Reddanna, Executive President, BioAsia, FABA, Dr Kosaraju R Rao, a US based leading clinical immunologist and Dr Karthik, Director, Naturopathy centre, who are now actively involved in the management of Genome Foundation.
The CM congratulated the pioneering work of the scientists and doctors, who are associated with this multi-disciplinary healthcare initiative supported by advanced genetic technologies for personalised and precision medicine under the overall guidance of eminent public men like Dr C Rangarajan, founder Chairman and former governor, RBI and K V Chowdary, current Chairman and former CVC of India.
The objective of setting up of the new centre based on the research work already carried out on rare diseases and novel therapeutic initiatives with the help of eminent scientists and clinicians, who found the importance of multiple medical specialties such as yoga, meditation, naturopathy, ayurveda, nutrition, spirituality, human psychology and preventive medicine approaches, combine with non-invasive, patient-centric healthcare initiatives for integrative medicine to manage the various diseases.
As a part of its mandate to provide affordable solutions for identification, prevention and awareness for general public on rare diseases, GF, a City-based non-profit organization took up several studies and signed MoUs with prestigious institutes such as LVPEI, FABA, CDFD, Truth Labs, KIMS to name a few. GF is certified for ‘Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT)’ facility recognized by the Medical & Health Dept., Government of Telangana State.
