New Delhi, Aug.23 (NSS): Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has urged the Union government to approve the conversion of the T-Fiber project into BharatNet Phase-3.
The Chief Minister along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka called on Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia at his office in New Delhi on Friday and requested the approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted for the conversion of the T-Fiber project into BharatNet Phase-3.
The T-Fiber project’s primary objective is to establish a robust network through optical fiber connections, linking all village panchayats, mandals, and districts. The project aims to provide G2G (Government to Government) and G2C (Government to Citizen) services to 65,000 government institutions.
Additionally, the T-Fiber project plans to deliver affordable internet, cable TV, and e-education services at a cost of just ₹300 per month to 63 lakh households in rural areas and 30 lakh households in urban regions.
Revanth Reddy urged Union Minister Scindia to expedite the provision of necessary infrastructure from the first phase of the National Optical Fiber Network (NOFN) to the State government to facilitate the implementation of T-Fiber.
He also requested that the DPR for upgrading from the first phase of NOFN to the third phase of BharatNet be approved.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister appealed for the BharatNet Udyami Protsahan Yojana to be extended to the T-Fiber project and requested a long-term, interest-free loan of ₹1,779 crore to support its implementation.
