Hyderabad, Nov.1 (NSS): Minister for BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar has called upon the people to cooperate with the caste survey undertaken by the State government and make it a grand success.
In a letter addressing the people on Friday, Ponnam Prabhakar said the survey, the first of its kind in the country, was being undertaken by the State government as a prestigious project and the collected data would not only assist in the implementation of future schemes, but also serve as a vital resource akin to a “mega health check-up” for all Telangana residents.
“I urge every citizen to actively participate and cooperate with the enumerators in providing accurate information for this historic survey,” Ponnam said.
The Minister reminded that in line with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s vision and the Telangana Congress’s BC declaration at a public meeting in Kamareddy, the party, upon assuming power, passed a cabinet resolution on February 4, 2024, to conduct a comprehensive, door-to-door survey across Telangana, covering social, economic, educational, employment, political, and caste-based data.
On February 16, 2024, the Telangana Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution in this regard and allocated Rs.150 crores. Moreover, the State government appointed Niranjan as Chairman of the BC Commission and designated the Planning department as the nodal agency for the execution of survey effectively, he revealed.
The Minister further stated that the survey will start on November 6 and a total of 85,000 enumerators will collect comprehensive data from each household under the supervision of local, mandal, district, and State-level officers, aiming to complete data collection by November 30, 2024.
