CONG GOVT TO BRING NEW LAW TO PROTECT MINORITIES: SHABBIR ALI

Kamareddy, Dec.29 (RAHNUMA): Advisor to Telangana Government (SC, ST, OBC and Minorities) Mohammed Ali Shabbir on Monday announced that the Congress government is preparing to introduce a new law to safeguard the religious freedom and protect minority communities, reaffirming its commitment to communal harmony and inclusive development.

Addressing the official Christmas celebrations at Limra function hall in Kamareddy, organised as part of the state government’s constituency-level festive programme, Shabbir Ali said the proposed legislation would ensure that no community feel insecure in Telangana. “The Telangana government respects all religions equally. This new law will strengthen the minority rights and promote religious harmony”, he noted.

After cutting the Christmas cake and extending festive greetings, Shabbir Ali said the teachings of Lord Jesus Christ symbolise peace, love, sacrifice and service, calling them a guiding light for society. The Congress government has been offering greater welfare support to Christians than previous regimes, citing the official celebration of Christmas in every constituency as a reflection of its commitment. He assured full infrastructure and welfare support to the Christian community in Kamareddy.

Earlier, Shabbir Ali distributed Rs.50 lakh worth of CMRF cheques to 82 beneficiaries at the Congress district office, stating that helping the people during crises defines good governance.

He later inspected development works in Kamareddy, including Rs.10 lakh worth CC road project at Janmabhoomi Road (Wards 33 & 34) and a Rs.20 lakh worth CC road project at Chota Kasab Galli (Ward 46). He said neglected areas were now being developed in a phased manner to improve connectivity and address rain-related issues.

In a boost to the ruling party, the newly elected Kancherla village Sarpanch Aruna Swamy and Bhiknoor ward member Gajje Venu joined the Congress. Welcoming them, Shabbir Ali said their entry reflected growing public support for Congress policies and would strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Congress leaders, public representatives and party workers attended the programmes.
