Cong leader alleges MIM vote split helps BJP, flags “Ground-Level Collusion’

Hyderabad, Jan.29 (RAHNUMA): Former Hyderabad District Congress Committee president Mohammed Waliullah Sameer on Thursday accused the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) of indirectly helping the BJP by splitting opposition votes in several states.

Referring to the January 2026 Maharashtra municipal elections, where MIM had won 125 corporator seats, Sameer pointed to reported local-level power-sharing arrangements between MIM and the BJP, including in Akot, saying they contradicted MIM’s claim of opposing the BJP.

He alleged that MIM’s participation in multi-cornered contests, including the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, divided anti-BJP votes and influenced outcomes in multiple constituencies. Similar allegations had surfaced in states such as Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Bihar, where MIM’s entry into electoral contests was said to have fragmented opposition vote banks, he noted.

Sameer said minority voters were seeking political clarity and unity to counter the BJP, and urged them to judge parties by outcomes rather than rhetoric.
