Hyderabad, Feb.6 (RAHNUMA): Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Syed Khalid Saifullah inaugurated the IS Sadan Division office, marking a significant organisational push by the Congress party in the Old City.
The event was attended by Yakutpura Assembly constituency in-charge K Ravi Raj and senior party leaders including Bheem Arjun Reddy, Kotla Srinivas and Krishna Kumar.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Khalid Saifullah said the inauguration of the new division office was the first step in a wider strategy to revive and expand the Congress party’s presence in historically neglected areas of Hyderabad. He announced that similar offices would soon be established across all 44 wards falling under the Hyderabad DCC’s jurisdiction.
“This is part of a planned organisational restructuring aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots level. Our focus is clear – we want to reconnect with the people of the Old City, understand their issues, and ensure that their voices are represented in governance,” Khalid said.
The move comes as the Hyderabad DCC prepares for the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections. The party has received an overwhelming response to its recently launched online application process for various party posts, with thousands of applications submitted before the 4th January deadline. Khalid said this reflects growing enthusiasm for the Congress under the leadership of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
A detailed strategy meeting will soon be held to finalise the party’s ward-level preparations, Khalid confirmed. He said that the Congress government’s ongoing welfare schemes, especially in the Old City, have already begun to yield results on the ground.
“Over 70% of the Old City’s population is now benefiting from key initiatives such as free bus travel for women, the distribution of new ration cards, free fine rice, and other welfare schemes. These are not just promises – they are realities that are changing lives,” he said.
He also highlighted the renewed public confidence generated by the Congress government’s efforts to fast-track the long-delayed Old City Metro Rail project. “For decades, the people of this area were ignored. Now, under the Congress government, we are seeing meaningful development begin,” Khalid added.
Emphasising that the Congress party’s focus is both developmental and electoral, he said the goal was to rebuild trust and re-establish the party as a credible force in the Old City of Hyderabad. “We are not just preparing for elections. We are laying the foundation for long-term progress in areas that were left behind.”
“With this reorganisation, the Congress is sending a clear message—we are here, we are serious, and we are committed to the people of Hyderabad,” Khalid concluded
