Hyderabad, Aug.20 (NSS): The birth anniversary of former prime minister late Rajiv Gandhi was celebrated on the grand scale across the Telangana State on Tuesday.
Congress leaders, including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy garlanded to the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Somajiguda in Hyderabad and paid tributes to him to mark the occasion.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Telangana in-charge Deepa Das Munshi, TPCC working president Jagga Reddy, former MP V Hanumantha Rao and party leaders also participated in the programme.
On the occasion, the Congress leaders recalled the services rendered by Rajiv Gandhi to the country and said that there was a need to follow the footsteps of former prime minister.
Meanwhile, books and bags were distributed to the students under the leadership of Telangana Fisheries Co-operative Societies Federation Chairman Mettu Saikumar at Gandhi Bhavan. Telangana in-charge Deepa Das Munshi, Congress leaders, including V Hanumantha Rao, MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, District Congress President Rohini Reddy participated in the programme.
The birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi were celebrated by Congress leaders at the district and mandal headquarters across the Telangana State.
