Congress ready for by-election in Station Ghanpur: Kadiyam Srihari

Jangaon, Sept.26 (NSS): Station Ghanpur MLA and former deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari said the Congress party is fully prepared for the by-elections if they occur.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, he accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of encouraging party defections, stating that it is the BRS that has a history of merging legislative parties.

Kadiyam Srihari emphasised that by-elections may not happen anytime soon, but if they do, the Congress party is ready to face them. He predicted that if elections are held in Station Ghanpur, the BRS would lose even their deposits.

Stating that the Congress party respects both the courts and democracy, Kadiyam Srihari, who was elected on the BRS ticket and defected to the Congress just before the Parliament elections, further accused former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao of splitting the united Warangal district into six parts to erase its historical significance.

Kadiyam also claimed that he was denied a second term as a minister because he questioned KCR about the decision. He criticised that Telangana has been held captive by KCR’s family.

Srihari’s comments come in the wake of BRS working president KT Rama Rao predicting bypolls to 10 constituencies where the BRS MLAs joined the Congress.

Meanwhile, the BRS party has handed over the in-charge of Ghanpur constituency to former MLA Tatikonda Rajaiah. KTR also exuded confidence that BRS candidate Thatikonda Rajaiah would secure victory in the Station Ghanpur constituency if the by-election was held.
