Counter false propaganda against Congress govt: Uttam

Hyderabad, Aug.17 (NSS): Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy has underlined the need to strategically use social media to highlight the Congress government’s achievements in Telangana and expose the failures of the previous BRS and present BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

Addressing the Congress party social media activists of Huzurnagar and Kodad Assembly constituencies on Saturday, Uttam Kumar Reddy explained the importance of social media and said that the social media could be an effective platform for disseminating the Congress government’s landmark achievements before the public, particularly the implementation of the Six guarantees promised to people.

These commitments include travel for women in RTC buses free of cost, giving gas cylinders at Rs 500, houses for weaker sections through the Indiramma housing scheme, and expansion of Rs 10 lakh health coverage under the Aarogyasri, among other schemes, he explained.

He appealed to social media activists to engage with the beneficiaries of such schemes, record their testimonials, and share those stories on their social media accounts. This way, the Congress party could ensure that its governance has a real impact on people’s lives, in contrast to all the failures of the previous BRS government, Uttam suggested.

He further exhorted the activists to congregate, pool the views of common people, and impress upon them how the Congress government is more effective and responsive to the people’s needs than the BRS.

He argued that only such a grassroots outreach would help build a powerful narrative that will strike a chord with Telangana voters.

The Minister emphasised that every Congress worker should watch for false propaganda by BRS leaders and underlined the need to refute misinformation with facts and figures so that the party’s narrative remains strong and credible.

“Congress workers must monitor social media for any misleading information and respond promptly to correct the record to ensure that no wrong information spreads,” he added.
