Hyderabad, March 20 (NSS): Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan assumed additional charge as the Governor of Telangana here on Wednesday.Chief justice of Telangana High Court Alok Aradhe administered the oath of office to Radhakrishnan at a function held at Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana Ministers, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, elected representatives and senior officials attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Governor.
Radhakrishnan has been given additional charge of Telangana and Puducherry after the resignation of Tamilisai Soundararajan, who is planning to contest the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu. He has been working as the Governor of Jharkhand since February, 2023.
Born in Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan joined RSS at the age of 16. He became a key leader in Jan Sangh and BJP. He won as BJP MP from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu in 1998 and 1999 elections. Later, he was consecutively defeated in 2004, 2009 and 2019 general elections. Radhakrishnan also worked as Tamil Nadu BJP State President.
Interestingly, Radhakrishnan is the third person from Tamil Nadu to occupy the post of Governor in Telangana for a consecutive term. The first Governor, Narasimhan, and the second Governor, Tamilisai Sounderarajan, were also from Tamil Nadu. (nss)
