
Hyderabad, July 30 (NSS): Kothagudem CPI MLA Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao today said he was happy that ₹.72,000 crore had been allocated in the State budget for the agriculture sector of the State. “Everyone who depends on the crop that the farmers grow is making a living,” he said. He also said many farmers were committing suicide due to the neglect of the agriculture sector. He said the agriculture sector should be treated as an industry and the subsidies given to the industries sector should be given to the agriculture sector as well.
He said “Thousands of crores of rupees are being spent on irrigation sector. However, the farmers are not getting water,” he said and demanded that care should be taken to ensure that water reaches every acre of the State. He said even after the Congress government came to power, 158 farmers had committed suicide. He demanded that remunerative prices for the farmers should be given.
