CPI (M) to hold Singareni Protection Yatra from July 29

Hyderabad, July 26 (NSS): CPI(M) state secretariat member S Veeraiah today  said that their party was taking out a singareni parirakshana yatra from July 29 to demand that the coal blocks in Telangana be allotted directly to the Singareni company and the auction of the coal blocks by the  central government should be stopped immediately . “On the same day, our party’s state secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram will inaugurate the yatra at Bellampalli in Mancherial district. The bus yatra will continue for eight days till the 5th of next month and the concluding session will be held at Kothagudem,” he said

He also said that he would lead the yatra and added that the state committee members of the party  Bhupal and P Asaiah would be members. The poster of the Singareni Parirakshana Yatra was unveiled at the CPI(M) state office MB Bhavan in Hyderabad on Friday. CPM central committee member G Nagaiah, state secretariat member T Jyothi and others were present on the occasion.             Speaking on the occasion, Veeraiah said that the BJP government at the Centre is conducting an auction for Shravanapalli coal block in Singareni area of Mancherial district and added that the auction was launched by Union Mines Minister Kishan Reddy. He reminded that the Singareni Company was formed for the purpose of mining coal mines. “It will provide coal which can be used to generate electricity cheaply. It is providing resources to the central and state governments,” he said. He criticized that the auctions of the coal blocks were being conducted to dilute the Singareni Company and damage it. He expressed concern that the Singareni Company would be crippled if coal blocks were allotted to private companies.

He demanded that the Shravanapalli coal block should be allotted directly to the Singareni Company. During the BRS regime, two coal blocks were handed over to the private players, he said. He explained that the Singareni Parirakshana Yatra was being undertaken to create awareness among the Singareni workers and the people of the state.

Veeraiah said that since union minister Kishan Reddy, who hails from Telangana, is the Union Minister of Mines, everyone thinks it is easier to save Singareni. “There are eight BJP MPs in the state. All of them are responsible destroying the hopes of the people. They are here to toe the line of PM Modi and not to protect the interests of the people, who voted them. Kishan Reddy is misleading the people by saying that Singareni will not be privatized. The Centre has 49 per cent and the state government has 51 per cent. But instead of allocating coal blocks to the Singareni, an auction is being conducted to hand it over to the private parties,” he said . He expressed concern that this would lead to Singareni being destroyed and added that the employees would not be able to get their salaries. He explained that the Singareni Corporation would be closed down even if the share of the central and state governments remains the same.

He said that the governments would take a decision to hand over the Singareni Company to the private companies if it wants to run. He urged the people and the Singareni workers, who has a history of struggle, to save Singareni. “CM Revanth Reddy is requesting the Centre to allot Shravanapalli coal block to the Singareni. On the other hand, the state government is participating in the auction and deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka was present at the auction ceremony. There is nothing more unfair than this and it is a crime to participate in the auction,” he said. He suggested that the state government should correct this mistake. He demanded that the auction be cancelled and the Shravanapalli coal block should be allotted to the Singareni and an  all-party delegation should be taken to the Centre. He sought a resolution in the Assembly to put more pressure on the Centre on the issue .
