Hyderabad, Aug.16 (NSS): Government Whip Beerla Ilaiah said the crop loan waiver upto Rs.2 lakh was a historic event in India and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy created a history by waiving off the crop loans in one go.
Speaking to the media at the Congress Legislative Party ( CLP) office here on Friday, Beerla Ilaiah along with Devarakadra MLA G Madhu Sadhana Reddy said that the farmers of entire country were looking at Telangana how the Congress government had done it.
He said that the Chief Minister was giving priority to the welfare of farmers and had allocated Rs.73,000 crores in the State’s budget for the agriculture sector.
“Due to some technical problems, few farmers couldn’t get the crop loan waiver. No farmer should lose heart and everyone will get the facility of loan waiver soon,” he said.
Congress MLA Beerla Ilaiah, who represents from Alair Assembly constituency, alleged that the previous BRS government had cheated farmers for ten years on the farm loan waiver and it didn’t fulfill it’s promise.
He also lambasted BRS leaders Harish Rao and KT Rama Rao for criticising the Congress government on the loan waiver and said that they had no right to criticise on the issue.
“The Chief Minister has fulfilled the promise of farm loan waiver successfully.
BRS MLA Harish Rao should resign from his MLA post or tender an apology to the people of Telangana,” Beerla Ilaiah said.
MLA Madhu Sadhana Reddy said that many BRS MLAs were in touch with the Congress and they would soon join the ruling party.
