CS highlights Telangana’s economic progress to U.S.-India Strategic Forum

Hyderabad, April 7 (RAHNUMA): A high-level delegation from the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum met Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

The delegation comprised representatives from companies across diverse sectors, including insurance, financial services, agriculture, and technology.

The Chief Secretary provided a comprehensive overview of Telangana’s growth trajectory across multiple sectors. He noted that Telangana, the youngest state in the country formed in 2014, has made remarkable progress over the past decade. The state has registered impressive growth in Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income, driven by significant investments from both the government and the private sector.

Highlighting the rapid pace of urbanisation, the Chief Secretary stated that Telangana is among the fastest urbanising states in India, with nearly one-third of its population residing in and around Hyderabad.

He described Hyderabad as the pharma capital of the country and a pioneer in the field of information technology. The city’s legacy of large public sector undertakings has also contributed to the growth of startups, particularly in the defence sector.

The Chief Secretary further noted that Hyderabad has attracted substantial investments in Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and is home to several nationally reputed educational institutions, world-class healthcare facilities, and a robust fintech ecosystem.

Emphasising Telangana’s strengths, he highlighted its conducive climate, availability of skilled manpower, rich cultural heritage, and renowned cuisine as key factors making it an attractive investment destination.

He stated that Telangana is among the fastest-growing states in India and has set an ambitious target of transforming into a $3 trillion economy by 2047.

Assuring continued support, the Chief Secretary conveyed to the delegation that the state government remains committed to facilitating investments and will extend all necessary assistance to make Telangana a preferred global investment destination.

Director of Industries Nikhil Chakravarthy, Malachy Brian Nugent, R Deepak Joshi, Divdrisht Singh from the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum and representatives of various companies were also present at the meeting.
