DCA officials raid medical shop in Amangal village & seize stocks

Hyderabad, Oct.24 (NSS)Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, raided a medical shop at Amangal village, Ranga Reddy District, which was operating illegally without a drug license. During the raid, DCA seized stocks worth Rs 2.22 lakh from the premises.

The DCA officials, acting on a tip-off regarding the illegal sale of medicines, raided a medical shop at D. No. 12-150, Amangal village on October 23, 2024. J. Bhagyalaxmi and J. Narsimha were running the medical shop named Amma Medical & General Stores at the said premises illegally, without a drug licence.

During the raid, DCA officers detected unauthorized stocking of huge quantity of medicines for sale and 75 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, antifungal drugs, analgesics, anti-ulcer drugs and so on are found stocked for sale on the premises. DCA officials seized the stock worth Rs 2.22 lakh during the raid.

  1. Prasad, Assistant Director, Ranga Reddy, Dr P. Sravanthi Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Maheshwaram, and V. Ravi Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Balapur carried out the raid. The DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis. They cautioned the public not to purchase medicines from unlicensed medical shops. Buying medicines from such sources significantly increases the risks to public health as they are unregulated. It is advisable to purchase medicines only from licensed medical shops. Licensed medical shops typically ‘display their drug licences’ issued by the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, conspicuously in a prominent place that is easily visible to the public. Selling medicines without a licence is considered an offence, and medicines purchased from unlicensed premises are likely to be counterfeit products.
