
Hyderabad, Jan.24 (RAHNUMA): Following representations made by committee members regarding sanitation and maintenance deficiencies, Greater Hyderabad Deputy Mayor Mothe Srilatha Shobhan Reddy conducted a surprise inspection at the Osmania University Muslim Graveyard located in the Habsiguda P&T Colony area on Saturday.
TTUC state president Mothe Shobhan Reddy also participated in the inspection.
During the visit, committee members brought to the Deputy Mayor’s attention several issues, including the spread of wild vegetation, overgrown tree branches, accumulated garbage, drainage problems, lack of drinking water facilities, and the absence of a protective boundary fence around the graveyard.
They specifically pointed out that dense weeds and uncontrolled tree branches were causing severe inconvenience to visitors and obstructing access to burial areas.
The Deputy Mayor strongly condemned the poor sanitation conditions, stating that such neglect was affecting the sanctity of the graveyard. She emphasised that the GHMC accords special priority to the maintenance of Muslim burial grounds and directed concerned officials to take immediate action. Instructions were issued to promptly remove wild vegetation, trim tree branches, and undertake comprehensive sanitation works.
She assured the committee members that necessary infrastructure facilities would be provided and that the graveyard would be properly maintained. The inspection was attended by Osmania University Muslim Graveyard President zarooruddin, along with Rashid, Yakub Sharif, Khadir, khudoos Akbar Basha, Ali Khalid, Khaja Pasha, Yakub, Mujahid, and other committee members.
