Environment protection is the responsibility of industries: Pawan Kalyan

Vijayawada, Oct.9 (NSS): Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests, Environment, Science and Technology of the state  Pawan Kalyan today said that the industries which are a part of the development should also recognize that it was their responsibility to provide a good environment to the future generations and added that Environmental interest should be the responsibility of all industries.  He said that  In today’s time when development is required, there was a need to encourage industries and added that At the same time, plans should be made to promote pollution-free industries as much as possible.

Pawan Kalyan inaugurated a workshop organized by the state Pollution Control Board with NGOs, experts and officials of other departments at a hotel in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan said that It was  not right to develop without a future for future generations. “The notion that the Pollution Control Board is against industries is not correct. In the present situation, both protecting the environment and moving forward on the path of development are crucial. There is a need to find suitable avenues for this. Experts should pay attention to this. There is a need to come up with a permanent solution and a policy that is acceptable to all in the case of pollution in Visakhapatnam or in case of worsening pollution in other areas. Pollution in industries as well as accidents have been on the rise in recent times. A way to prevent them should be shown,” he said.

Stating that there is a coastal corridor of 974 km, he said that It has to be developed. “Industries should be set up so that the ecological balance is not disturbed. For future generations, We all have to think from now on. Everyone should be involved in controlling water and air pollution. At a time when the government is yearning for rapid development, experts and intellectuals should provide valuable suggestions for formulating pollution-free industries and their modalities. Their suggestions will greatly benefit the society. The efforts of the NGOs towards the betterment of the environment are commendable. Their services will be utilized by the Pollution Control Board.  Through this workshop, everyone will get clarity on the steps taken on the two issues of setting up of industries and environmental protection. We are thinking about how much pollution should be controlled in these five years. Everyone should work collectively to protect the environment,” he said.

The Chairman of the Pollution Control Board P. Krishnaiah, Director of APIIC Cherukuri Sridhar and others were present on the occasion.
