Etela condemns arrests in Lagicherla village, warns revolt by Telangana people

Hyderabad, Nov.12 (NSS)BJP MP Etela Rajender today alleged that attempts were being made to hand over farmers’ lands to pharma companies by the State government. He reacted to the incident of farmers of Lagicherla village.

He said, “We strongly condemn the arrests of Lagicherla. We are warning that it is not good to file illegal cases against the farmers. If cases are filed against them, the entire Telangana community will revolt. If the pharma companies need it, they will acquire the land themselves but the government does not have to act like a broker in the middle. The people did not vote for the Congress government to broker deals with the pharma companies,” he said. He said the government was trying to acquire land for the pharma city  in Lagicharla village and added that it was strongly opposed by the farmers of the village.

“The BJP strongly condemns the shutdown of internet and electricity services and the arrest of hundreds of policemen deployed in villages. We have warned that it is not good to file illegal cases,” he said. He also said the land acquisition should be done at the will of the farmers and added that the State government had not been given the power to take it by force.

“Earlier, an attempt was made to acquire land for Rs 8 lakh per acre for pharma city in Muchharla and hand it over to pharma companies for Rs 1.2 crore per acre. This is what the Congress party opposed and we, as the BJP, were also opposed to it. CM Revanth Reddy, who was opposed it then, is now trying to grab the land and put mud in the mouths of the farmers. I demand that government lands should be given but not private land to the pharma companies. Revanth Reddy is saying that he will create jobs in his own assembly constituency, but the families of the farmers, who have lost their lands so far have not been given full compensation. The promises made have not been implemented. No one has the right to grab the lands of the poor and give it to the elders and earn money from those lands. I strongly condemn the misdeeds of the government against the people of the area in the name of pharma city,” he said. He warned that if illegal arrests were made and cases were filed against the farmers, the entire Telangana community would revolt. “Let the people also protest democratically. We assure you that we will all stand by the people,” Rajender said.
