Etela demands govt to install statue of policeman Kishtaiah

Hyderabad, Dec.1 (NSS): Malkajgiri MP Etela Rajender today demanded that the State government install the statue of policeman Kishtaiah, who was martyred in final phase of the  Telangana movement  on Hyderabad’s  tank bund.  On the occasion of the 15th death anniversary of Kishtaiah, Rajender, along with Telangana State Legislative Council vice-chairman Banda Prakash and MLC Prof. Kodandaram paid tributes to Kishtaiah at martyrs memorial at gun park of the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Etela Rajender said Kishtaiah   sacrificed his life for the liberation of the Telangana State. “Remembering the sacrifices of the martyrs means continuing their aspirations. Governments should work towards achieving their aspirations,” He said while urging the government to take care of the families of the martyrs and give jobs and build houses for their families. He appealed to the government to provide monthly pension to the family members of the martyrs.

He urged the government to remember that Telangana State was formed on the basis of their sacrifices. He demanded that a statue of the police should  be  erected and his jayanthi and death anniversary celebrations should be held in a grand manner. MLC Kodandaram said Kishtaiah was martyred for a separate State. “On December 1, 2009, he shot himself with his service gun in the heart of Kamareddy town and sacrificed his life for Telangana. A separate State of Telangana has come with the sacrifices of many people like him,” he said.
