Hyderabad, July 27 (NSS): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has reiterated that even if the Centre does not cooperate, the State government will take up the construction of Metro connecting from the old city to Airport.
During the debate on the budget in the Assembly on Saturday, the Chief Minister said it was not an old city, but an original city.
He alleged that the previous BRS government had cheated the old city and failed to bring metro to the old city.
“Steps are being taken to construct the Metro in the old city. Even if the Center does not cooperate, we will definitely take up the project connecting from the old city and Airport,” Revanth Reddy reiterated.
Reminding that it was the Congress government that brought metro rail to Hyderabad, the Chief Minister alleged that the previous BRS government had invited tenders for the construction of a total 32 km metro from the Hi-Tech City to the airport only for benefiting few private companies.
“Our government will build metro from LB Nagar to Airport keeping in mind the needs of the people and the traffic congestion. The metro construction will be taken up through Chandrayanagutta to benefit the people of the old town,” Revanth Reddy said.
