Hyderabad, Aug.31 (NSS): In the wake of the completion of feedback from the people, Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed officials to focus on the legislative process and expedite the necessary preparations to introduce the new Revenue Act.
The Minister emphasised the need to consolidate all received feedbacks, suggestions and recommendations and to carefully examine them.
In a release here on Saturday, he asked the officials that the new Act must address the needs of people, particularly the farming community.
The new Revenue Act is being designed to align with the evolving times and conditions, keeping future generations in mind and meeting the long-standing aspirations of the Telangana people, the Minister said.
Criticising the previous government for failing to resolve land issues and creating new problems due to hasty decisions, he highlighted that the 2020 Revenue Law had significant shortcomings, causing considerable hardships for farmers and landowners.
“The Dharani Portal exacerbated land issues, leading to numerous problems for farmers and landowners. Nearly 30 lakh farmers in the State have suffered due to issues with the Dharani system. To prevent a recurrence of such problems, feedback has been solicited from experts, retired revenue officials, public representatives, farmers and ordinary citizens,” the Minister disclosed.
The draft was discussed in the legislative Assembly on August 2 and subsequently placed in the public domain. Workshops were also conducted under the supervision of district collectors, he said.
The Minister instructed that suggestions from these district-level workshops be compiled into a report and sent promptly to the land administration office.
“A significant volume of feedback was received during the extensive statewide consultation process, including written submissions and emails from ordinary citizens. The new law will be designed to be corruption-free and easily understandable for farmers and the general public,” he said.
Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy assured that unlike the previous government’s secretive approach, the current Congress government will make the Dharani system a public document accessible to all.
