Farmers taking fresh loans to clear interest amount in banks : Harish Rao

Hyderabad, July 26 (NSS): Former minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao has alleged that the crop loan waiver has not been implemented anywhere in Telangana and moreover, farmers are forced to take the fresh loans to clear their interest amount in banks.

Taking to his twitter handle on Friday, Harish Rao  claimed that the promise of waiving off the farm loans on December 9 and starting the process after seven months was causing new problems to the farmers.

“Farmers are complaining that the bankers are saying that they will waive off their loans only after paying the interest of the last seven months,” Harish Rao claimed.

“We demand that the State government should immediately respond and give clear instructions that it  will bear the interest from December to July, asking the banks  not to collect it from the farmers,” Harish Rao said.

The BRS MLA said that a farmer from Shivampet mandal of Narsapur Assembly constituency in Medak district had to pay Rs 9,000 interest to avail the crop loan waiver benefit and added that the farmers of Chigurumamidi mandal in the combined Karimnagar district were also facing a similar situation.

“I am sending the representations sent to me by the farmers for the consideration of the State government,” he said.

Harish Rao has appealed to the State government to resolve the loan waiver issues as early as possible.
