“We will not tolerate this anymore,” he said, while speaking at the TRS plenary.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has reportedly asked TRS leaders and Ministers to file cases against those who make ‘false’ claims against the party and the state government.
“We have tolerated false and baseless allegations levelled against us by Opposition parties and others so far. But we will not tolerate this any more. I ask ministers here to file cases immediately against anyone who makes graft allegations against you or your department,” he was quoted as saying.
He made the statement while speaking at the party’s annual plenary that began at Kompally on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Friday.
He also said that the Telangana government was a “corruption-free administration”.
Other leaders like TRS MP Vinod Kumar also hit out at the opposition parties, for criticising KCR.
“KCR is known for innovative thoughts and progressive ideas. During the Telangana movement, he not only envisioned a separate state but also division of the then big districts into smaller ones for administrative convenience,” he was quoted as saying.
Ahead of the plenary on Friday, KCR was also unanimously re-elected as the President of the TRS, for the eighth consecutive time.
TRS electoral returning officer Nayini Narasimha Reddy, who is also the state’s Home Minister, announced Rao’s election, which was greeted with drum beats and distribution of sweets by the party leaders.
Narasimha Reddy said KCR’s was the only nomination received for the party chief’s post. Party leaders filed 12 sets of nomination papers all on behalf of Rao.
KCR has been holding the post since floating the party in 2001 to revive the movement for separate statehood to Telangana.
Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014. TRS won the elections held the same year and formed the first government in the newly created state.
The TRS also plans to hold a massive public meeting later this month, in Warangal, to celebrate its formation day.IANS inputs
