Hyderabad, July 24 (NSS): State Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar today said they had given fitness certificates to 24,000 school buses so far.
Replying to a question raised by MLAs in the State assembly, he said the fitness certificates issuance drive would begin from May 15 every year and added that they had made the issuance of the fitness certificates compulsory to all the schools. The minister said the fitness certificate was being issued after holding counselling for the Bus drivers and conductors. He said they were taking steps to not use the buses, which are more than 15 years old as per the rules of the Central and the State governments.
He said they had made it mandatory for all the buses to keep fire extinguishers, phone number display and medical kits. He said steps would be taken to run the buses as per a time-table as per the advice of the members of the assembly.
