Focus on tourism development near forests, waterfalls : Bhatti tells officials

Hyderabad, July 20 (NSS): Districts like Adilabad, Khammam, Mahbubnagar , Warangal in Telangana are endowed with green and dense forests and waterfalls. Such places should be identified and amenities be developed to attract IT employees, domestic and international tourists to these places and generate revenue for the department, said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Mallu Vikramarka.

 The Deputy Chief Minister along with Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao held a budget review meeting of Tourism, Culture, Sports and NCC department at the Secretariat here on Saturday.

 On the occasion, he directed the officials concerned to submit a detailed report on properties owned by Tourism department as well as leased properties.

The officials were asked to to utilise Outer Ring Road, major irrigation projects and forests for tourism development and for generating income.

 “The previous government had started many constructions in the last 10 years and left them incomplete. As a result, hundreds of crores of rupees of public money was rendered useless.Therefore, the constructions that were 90 per cent complete should be identified and completed. Plans should be charted out to construct other incomplete buildings in phases,” Bhatti said.

 Stating that there are several sports grounds in Telangana, but they are not being used and encroachments are taking place, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officials to take immediate action and organise sports activities daily, putting them to good use.

 “Arrangements should be made to conduct sports for students of residential school students in these play grounds. Moreover, plans should be formulated  to ensure year long activities in the government sports grounds,” Bhatti said.

 Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao stated that though Telangana State has rich cultural wealth and heritage, these places are not being highlighted to achieve results on a full scale.

 “In the coming days, focus should be paid to attract domestic and international tourists on a big scale,” Jupally instructed the officials.
