Former Minister warns of large scale protest programs for cotton farmers

Hyderabad, Oct.16 (NSS): Former Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy has criticized the state government for deliberately not setting up cotton buying centers to benefit the Middlemen.

Speaking to the media on this occasion, he demanded to know as to why the government had not set up CCI centers yet. He said that the Farmers cannot store cotton for long and added that the Farmers would lose if they take it to the buying centers late. He lamented that the government, knowing that cotton farmers could not keep stock, did not set up purchasing centers in a conspiracy. “Due to the fraudulent attitude of the government, the farmers are selling cotton at a low price under forced conditions,” he claimed. He warned that if the government still does not respond, they would start a large-scale movement with the farmers.
