
Hyderabad, Sept.2 (NSS): Former Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu today expressed grief over the ongoing flood woes in two Telugu states and said that he was deeply disturbed by the damage caused to the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana due to torrential rains and heavy floods. “I called the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and apprised him of the current situation in the two Telugu states and requested him to help the two states immediately. The Prime Minister said that he had already spoken to the chief ministers of the two states and added that the mechanisms of the governments of the two states and central officials were in touch. The Prime Minister assured adequate assistance to the two states,” he said. In a statement, Naidu announced that he was contributing ₹5 lakh each from his pension fund to the CM Relief Fund of the Telugu states . “ As part of my contribution, I have sent ₹. 5 lakh from my personal pension to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs. 5 lakhs to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for taking up the relief efforts. I appeal to the NGOs to come forward to help those in distress in this difficult time. I also appeal to the youth to come forward in a big way and take part in the rescue operations,” he said .
He said that On behalf of Muppavarapu Foundation run by his son Muppavarapu Harshavardhan, ₹. 2.5 lakhs was donated to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Andhra Pradesh and Rs.2.5 lakhs to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund of Telangana State. He also said that Rs 2.5 lakh to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 2.5 lakh to the Telangana Chief Minister’s Relief Fund was also donated from the Swarna Bharat Trust run by my his Deepa Venkat.
