
Hyderabad, Nov.1 (NSS): Special Chief Secretary Sabyasachi Ghosh said dairy farmers in the State have made significant progress in milk production. During the launch of “Free Veterinary Camps – Brochure at Secretariat on Friday, he said the government was providing all kinds of assistance to the dairy farmers in the State. He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has specially allocated Rs 1980 crore to the Department of Animal Husbandry in the 2024-25 budget.
He said 2210 free veterinary womb camps are being organized from October 25 to February 28, 2025 in all villages across the State by Animal Husbandry Department in collaboration with the “Rashtriya Gokul Mission”. The medical camps, long-term non-pregnant cattle are identified and to be given appropriate treatment, artificial insemination, eye tests, anti-nutritional drugs for calves, vitamin injections, mineral salt mixtures to increase milk yield in dairy cattle and other treatments are being done.
Besides, in 300 selected villages, the exhibition of calves born through artificial insemination, milk yield competitions in dairy cattle will be organized and awareness programs will be undertaken to the farmers on artificial insemination and high milk yielding good breed dairy cattle. He said reproductive management is very important in dairy farming and if the cow matures and conceives within 2.5 to 3 months after weaning, the farmer can get one calf per year and increase his milk quickly.
He said during the camps, services will be extending like scientific nutrition (providing mineral salt mixture along with feed), artificial insemination at the right time as part of the management, identifying the female and performing artificial insemination. This is more helpful to the farmers in the State. If not detect a female, the loss will be around Rs 2000-3000 to the farmer.
He said it is necessary to take timely treatment for uterine diseases in cattle that keep coming up again and again, otherwise the dairy cattle will lose fat and become useless for reproduction.
