Hyderabad, March 27 (RAHNUMA): Telangana BJP chief N. Ramchander Rao on Friday welcomed the Centre’s decision to cut retail fuel prices, hailing it as a pro-people move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Expressing gratitude, Rao said the reduction in excise duty – Rs.10 per litre on petrol and zero on diesel – demonstrates the Centre’s commitment to easing the burden on the common man, especially amid rising global crude oil prices.
However, he sharply criticized the Telangana government led by A Revanth Reddy, alleging that high value added tax (VAT) rates – around 35% – continue to strain the state consumers. He urged the state to follow the Centre’s lead and reduce taxes to bring petrol prices below Rs.100 per litre.
Rao accused the state government of prioritizing revenue over public welfare and called for immediate action to provide tangible relief to citizens.
