Hyderabad, Oct.24 (NSS): GHMC Commissioner Ilambarthi has clarified that shopkeepers selling firecrackers (firecracker shops) must obtain a temporary trade licence from the GHMC and added that they would not be allowed to set up their shops without a licence.
He said the trade licence fee had been fixed at Rs 11,000 for retail shops and Rs 66,000 for wholesale shops. He also said everyone who manages firecracker shops must get a license and set up shops as per rules. “All those setting up firecracker shops will have to pay the prescribed fee and get prior permission from the GHMC. Applications for temporary trade identification number can be made through citizen service centre/ GHMC website/ (www.ghmc.gov.in).
Trade license fees can be paid through demand draft, debit/credit cards and net banking,” he said. The sellers have also been asked to provide aadhaar card and PAN card copy for proof of their identity by him. He said the Fireworks shops should not be set up between footpaths and habitations and added that the shops should be set up in open ground and big halls away from the colony and bastis with adequate fire safety.
He said that the Firefighting equipment should be kept on standby so that the fire can be doused in the event of any untoward accident. It is advised to keep the surroundings clean at every stall by the commissioner.
He made it clear that under no circumstances should firecrackers be burst near the shops and added that quality electrical wire should be used for lights and other electrical equipment installed in the shops. He said that In case of any untoward incident at the stall, it was clearly mentioned in the temporary trade license certificate that the stall holder would be held responsible and liable for legal action.
