
Hyderabad, Jan.23 (RAHNUMA): The Telangana Governor instituted the “Governor’s Awards for Excellence” for the first time in 2024. The awards were presented on 26 January 2025 to individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions in the fields of “Environment Protection, Divyangjan Welfare, Sports & Games, and Culture”.
For the year 2025, the Governor has proposed the “Governor’s Awards for Excellence” to recognize exceptional contributions and voluntary service by individuals and organizations in the fields of “Women Empowerment, Tribal Development, Rural Health & Medical Philanthropy and Corporate Volunteering. Nominations were invited in November 2025 through both offline and online modes from eligible individuals and organizations demonstrating excellence in their respective fields.
The nominations were meticulously scrutinized by a distinguished Awards Selection Committee, chaired by K. Padmanabhaiah, IAS (Retd.), Former Union Home Secretary, Padma Bhushan awardee, and Chairman, Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad. The other members of the jury included C.R. Biswal, IAS (Retd.), Former Special Chief Secretary to Government, Dr. Sunita Krishnan, Padma Shri awardee, renowned social worker and women’s rights activist, Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli, Healthcare Specialist and Sri Ramesh Kaza, Secretary General, Society for Cyberabad Security Council.
As for the awardees for individuals for the year 2025, Rama Devi Kanneganti, Hyderabad selected under Women empowerment field, while Thodasam kailash, Waghapur, Adilabad district for Tribal Development, Dr Pradyut Waghray, Hyderabad for Rural Health and Medical Philanthropy and V Rajanna for Corporate Volunteering.
With regard to Organizations, Sai Social empowerment society, Ghatkesar selected under Women empowerment field, Indigenous development organization (IDO), Gattumalla village, Bhadradri-Kothagudem district for Tribal development, Ramdevrao hospital, Hyderabad for Rural health and medical philanthropy and Give for Society, Ghatkesar for Corporate volunteering.
Each award carries a cash prize of Rs. Two lakhs along with a citation recognizing the outstanding achievements of the awardees. The awardees will be felicitated by the Governor at a special ceremony on 26 January 2026 at Lok Bhavan, Hyderabad.
