
Hyderabad, Aug.25 (NSS): Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has informed that the State government is taking adequate steps to encourage students to pursue sports as their career.
Addressing the programme after presenting awards to the winners in Marathon 2024 at Gachibowli stadium here on Sunday, the Chief Minister said the Congress government was committed to promote the sports in a big way and necessary steps were being taken for encouraging the students to pursue sports as their career.
He alleged that the previous government had neglected sports completely and the historic city of Hyderabad could not achieve any milestones in sports.
“I assure all that the State government will bring past glory to the sports and Gachibowli will also be developed as a sports village in the days to come,” Revanth Reddy disclosed.
The Chief Minister said the State government is working aimed at winning medals in the next Olympic games and as part of its endeavour, it will be starting a Young India Sports University in the next academic year by hiring famous international coaches and providing the best training to the budding sports persons in Telangana.
“During my recent visit to New Delhi, I have already briefed Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mansukh L. Mandaviya that the State government will establish sports stadiums as per international standards so that the Olympics can be held in Hyderabad, aimed at promoting Telangana as a destination for sports in the country,” Revanth Reddy added.
