Govt ensures congestion-free highways for Sankranthi commuters: Komatireddy

Hyderabad, Jan.10 (RAHNUMA): Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy

announced that the State government has taken all necessary measures to ensure smooth travel for those heading from Hyderabad to their hometowns during the Sankranthi festival.

Speaking to reporters at the Ministers Quarters on Saturday, he explained that the government has arranged measures to prevent traffic congestion at toll plazas and national highways throughout Telangana.

He mentioned that officials anticipate around 12 lakh vehicles will make the journey to rural areas this year, compared to last year’s 9 lakh vehicles. Additionally, he noted that the government has instructed that toll fees be waived if significant congestion occurs at toll gates.

The Minister also revealed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the new Greenfield Highway from Future City to Bandar has been completed, and the state is now inviting tenders for its construction.

He highlighted the severe congestion at the Pantangi toll gate, indicating that the government has ordered the toll gate to be opened. They’ve coordinated with the DGP (Director General of Police) to ensure security, and an ambulance will be stationed every 20 kilometers along the national highway. Special provisions are also in place to assist stalled vehicles with crane support, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said.

He added that a toll-free number has been established, and the government is actively managing the situation up to the Telangana border.
