Hyderabad, Aug.10 (NSS): BRS party MLA Dr K. Sanjay today alleged that as many as 36 students had died in government residential schools in the last seven months and added that nearly 500 students had been affected by food poisoning in the last seven months. He also alleged that the deaths of these students were murders committed by the Congress government.
MLA Sanjay spoke to the media along with the party MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy at Telangana Bhavan in the city. “Earlier, we used to see the news reports that tribals were falling sick. During the 10 years of KCR’s rule, such news was not seen. Now, there are reports every day that the the residential schools’ students are falling ill. There has been no response from the State ministers and officials on the deaths of the students,” he alleged.
He claimed that six students of Peddapur gurukul school in his own Korutla constituency suffered from food poisoning and added that two of them died. There was also no inquiry from the government’s side on the issue, he alleged. In the language of CM Revanth Reddy, these are the murders committed by the government. As a responsible leader, I don’t say these things. But if Revanth was in Opposition, he would have spoken like this,” Sanjay claimed.
He urged the Government to pay special attention to the situation prevailing in the residential gurukul hostels. He said 1,200 gurukuls were set up during the BRS regime. He recalled that the officials were constantly monitoring the functioning of gurukuls and taking precautions during their party’s rule. “But today, the authorities are negligent. They are providing substandard food to the children. They are getting seriously ill. The students are suffering due to the presence of snakes and rats in the hostels,” MLA Sanjay alleged. He also alleged that the Revanth government was deliberately neglecting the residential education system.
