
Hyderabad, Aug.22 (NSS): The State government has released Rs.1225.43 crores for the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme, which provides financial assistance for the marriages of girls from backward classes and economically weaker sections.
This is the first installment of the total budget of Rs.2175 crores allocated for the scheme in the 2024-25 financial year.
A total of 65,026 applications have been received for the scheme, with 33,558 applications received this year alone. Out of these, 28,225 applications are pending at the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) level, while 12,555 applications are pending at the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) level. 208 applications have been rejected due to various reasons.
The government has sanctioned Rs.649.86 crores for the approved applications, while Rs.240.73 crores have been spent on sanctioned applications. The remaining balance of Rs.984.70 crores will be released in the next installment.

Despite financial constraints, the government has released Rs.1225.43 crores for the scheme, which is a significant move to support the weaker sections of society.
In a release on Thursday, Minister for BC Welfare Minister expressed happiness over the release of funds and thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for their support.
