Hyderabad, July 18 (NSS): Under the first installment, the State government on Thursday released over Rs.6,098 crores into the accounts of farmers who have crop loans up to one lakh rupees.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu formally released the amount into the accounts of farmers under the loan waiver scheme -2024 from the Secretariat.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, “This is an unforgettable day in my life. We have fulfilled the promise to farmers.”
He reminded that the loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh guarantee given by the Congress party to the farmers during the campaign of 2023 Assembly elections was now being fulfilled in Telangana.
“Similarly, the farmers who have a loan of one lakh to one and a half lakh will soon get debt relief. Before the end of August month, the process of Rs.2 lakh loan waiver will be completed,” the Chief Minister said.
He alleged that the previous BRS government had failed to do the crop loan waiver twice and never stood by its word.
“In the first five years, former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao had promised to waive off Rs.16,000 crores of debt, but he gave only Rs. 12,000 crores. During the second term, only Rs. 9,000 crores were paid out of Rs. 12,000 crores in the BRS government. KCR has not paid even Rs. 21,000 crores for loan waiver in ten years. Even though farmers were committing suicides, KCR had not fulfilled his promise to the people,” the Chief Minister pointed out.
Revanth Reddy also announced that a huge public meeting would be held with the farmers in Warangal soon and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi would be invited to the meeting.
“We have done what the BRS government could not do in the last ten years,” the Chief Minister said.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka stated that today is a big festival day for farmers in Telangana and it is a day that should be written with golden letters in the nation’s history.
“Whole country is looking at Telangana with wonder for waiving upto Rs 2 lakh loan of farmers at one go. By doing so, Telangana State created a record,” Bhatti said.
He stated that no state ever implemented Rs 2 lakh loan waiver for farmers at once in the country and Telangana became a model State in this for the country.
