‘Govt should declare cow as national mother’

Hyderabad, Oct.9 (NSS)Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati Swamiji told media persons at Ravindra Bharathi on Wednesday that Hindu society should only vote for cow protectors. The day cow slaughter stops, all our debts will start to be cleared. Do not vote for cow-slaughtering parties and commit the sin of supporting cow slaughter – Hindus. Jyotishpeethadheeshwar Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwarananda Saraswati ‘1008’ after arriving in Bhopal, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj raised the cow flag (GauDhwaj).

Addressing the “Bharat Yatra” program after the cow flag establishment, ParamaradhyaParamadhishUttaramnayaJyotishpeethadheeshwar Jagadguru Shankaracharya SwamishreeAvimukteshwarananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj said revered Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj began his journey on September 22, 2024, in Ayodhya by performing the Ramkot Parikrama to declare the cow as the national mother. This historic journey has travelled to almost all the northeastern States, establishing the cow flag in each of them. The historic journey achieved great success recently when, under the direction of revered Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Sambhaji Shinde, declared the indigenous (Rama) cow as the State Mother and handed over the cabinet’s proposal copy at Shankaracharya Ji’s feet. Revered Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj is on this historic journey to completely remove the blemish of cow slaughter from Indian soil and declare the cow as the national mother.

Addressing the devotees, revered Shankaracharya Ji Maharaj said that this movement, led by Gopalmani Ji, who seeks the grace of Ganga and the cow, is extremely sacred. Therefore, we are involved in this campaign to strengthen the movement. Both those who see cows only for milk and those who see cows only for meat are unaware of their true importance. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says that He, along with the yajna (sacrifice), was manifested, and both are created for each other.

Once, Prajapati Brahma invited the gods, demons, and humans. After preparing everything, beautiful dishes were served, but the servants of Brahmaloka tied long sticks to everyone’s hands. The demons, in protest, left without eating. However, the gods and humans cooperated by feeding each other, experiencing great satisfaction. In India, we feel satisfied by feeding others. We prepare food for our deities, guests, and children, which is called yajna. Yajna, performed through mantra and oblation, pleases the gods. Brahmins and cows help in completing yajna. Without the cow, all worship and rituals are in vain. Serving the cow is equivalent to serving the 33 crore deities. We offer the first bread of the day to the cow, who represents these deities.

Maharaja Dilip was extremely powerful but was sad because he had no son. By following the orders of Guru Vashishtha and serving the cow continuously for 40 days, he was blessed with a son named Aj. Later, Lord Ram was born in this sacred lineage. If you want to attain God, serve the cow. The Lord Himself has said, ‘GavaamMadhyeVasaamyaham’ – I always reside among cows. ‘Maateeti Mata’ – the one who absorbs everything within herself is the mother. The cow encompasses everything. In the Lalita Sahasranama, the goddess is addressed as ‘Gomata.’ The cow fulfills all desires and is the wish-fulfilling goddess. As Sanatanis, we serve the cow not just for milk but also to receive blessings.
