Govt to conduct 26-day long grand celebrations to mark one year of public governance

Hyderabad, Nov.9 (NSS): The Congress government has decided to conduct 26-day long grand celebrations to mark one year of public governance in Telangana.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has informed that large-scale “Praja Vijayotsavams” (People’s Victory Celebrations) will be conducted from November 14 to December 9.

The 26-day celebrations aim to showcase unprecedented developmental and welfare initiatives achieved over the past ten months, Bhatti said.

A cabinet sub-committee meeting on the arrangements, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, was held at the Secretariat here on Saturday.

Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar, State Advisors Vem Narender Reddy and Keshav Rao, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari and other senior officials were also present.

During the meeting, Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the transformational achievements under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, which he described as revolutionary and unparalleled by any other State administration.

He emphasised that the festivities would highlight key welfare schemes, including free bus travel for women, subsidized LPG cylinders at Rs.500, 200 units of free electricity, Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance, and the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme.

Bhatti also pointed out that around 50,000 jobs have already been provided, and nearly Rs.18,000 crore in farm loans have been waived.

In addition to this, Rs 20,000 crore in interest-free loans have been granted to women’s self-help groups, and a plan is underway to revive the closed Kamalapur Rayon industry with a Rs.4,000 crore investment, he said.

Starting on Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary, the celebrations will include cultural events across the Telangana State, culminating in a grand finale in Hyderabad on December 9 with performances, laser shows and fireworks, he said.

The event will also mark the distribution of appointment letters to selected Group 4 candidates through the Telangana Public Service Commission.

The Deputy Chief Minister announced several other initiatives, including industrial agreements with major companies, the foundation for a Sports University, and the inauguration of 16 nursing colleges, 28 paramedical colleges, and a new building for Osmania Hospital.

He stated that the newly established State Disaster Response Force will also commence operations, alongside anti-drug campaigns, dog shows, and police band performances organised by the Police department.

On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister directed department secretaries to ensure thorough arrangements for the celebrations
