GOVT TO LAUNCH DEMOLITION DRIVE IN ALL DISTRICTS FOR PROTECTING WATER BODIES: PONNAM

Hyderabad, Aug.26 (NSS): Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar has informed that the State government will soon launch the demolition drive against encroachments in all the districts of Telangana for protecting and restoring water bodies.

In a release here on Monday, the Minister explained that the State government has launched a drive to demolish illegal constructions to preserve and restore water bodies in Hyderabad and the drive will be extended to all districts across the State.

“The government is committed to taking strict measures to reclaim lakes and ponds that have been encroached upon,” Ponnam said.

In response to the changing geographical and climatic conditions, the government is implementing programmes to protect the environment by restoring water bodies that existed historically. These efforts align with official records and government data, aiming to combat environmental pollution and preserve the natural ecosystem, he disclosed.

The Minister further stated that the preservation of these water bodies is a collective responsibility and the State government has no political agenda behind these actions.

Urging the people to report any illegal structures on government lands in their respective areas, the Minister said that the public participation is crucial for protecting the properties and the success of the State government’s initiative.
