Hyderabad, Aug.20 (NSS): Former minister & senior BRS leader Harish Rao today said it was shameful that the ruling Congress party leaders were talking about the crop loan waiver scheme without any sense. “If the Chief Minister says the loan waiver scheme has been completely implemented, the State ministers and MLAs are saying that the loan waiver has not been completely implemented,”he alleged.
Harish Rao recalled that while Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had announced that the loan waiver of Rs 18,000 crore had been completed in Khammam,
minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the loan waiver had not been completely done and that ₹.12,000 crore would be released in the days to come. He said another minister Uttam Kumar Reddy said 17 lakh farmers had not been given the loan waiver benefit yet. “Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, who was present at the Rajiv Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on Tuesday, announced that ₹.31,000 crore loan waiver had been completed,” he alleged. Rao said the Chief Minister should tell them as to whose words they should believe.
“On the one hand, when farmers are agitating across the State without a loan waiver, the Chief Minister and the ministers, who are supposed to give assurances are creating more confusion by speaking out of their mouths. If the loan waiver has happened as you are saying, then why are the farmers roaming around banks, agriculture offices and collectorates like slippers,” he asked.
He said the Chief Minister should accept the fact that the farm loan waiver had not been completed and apologise to the farmers. He demanded that a white paper on the loan waiver be released immediately.
