Siddipet, Aug.11 (NSS): Former minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao today inspected the lifting of Godavari waters of Ranganayaka Sagar project in Siddipet district.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said the project was a testimony to the eternal quest to provide water to the farmers. He said the BRS government had worked with the aim of bringing joy to the farmers and the smile on their faces. “We are thrilled to see the sight of this water. It is well known that Ranganayaka Sagar reservoir was constructed as part of Kaleshwaram project.

He said lift irrigation works are continuing in Link-2 of Kaleshwaram project. While the water from Sripada Yellampally reservoir in Peddapalli district is reaching Nandi pump house in Nandimedaram through under tunnels, 3,150 cusecs of water is being lifted into Nandi reservoir through a motor on Saturday. From there, they are transported through twin tunnels to Gayatri pump house at Laxmipur in Karimnagar district,” he said and added that a total of 3,150 cusecs of water was being lifted and diverted to Sri Rajarajeshwara reservoir.

“According to the project officials, more than 13 TMC of water from Yellampally has been diverted to Central Maner till Saturday evening. They said the Madhyamaneru reservoir currently has a storage capacity of 17.06 tmcft of water against the capacity of 27.54 tmcft. Water is being diverted from Madhyamaneru to Annapurna project at Ananthagiri in Illanthakunta mandal of Sircilla district,” he said.

Rao also said while the water from Madhyamaneru reaches the surge pool in Tippapur through under tunnels, 6,440 cusecs of water reaches Annapurna reservoir through two Bahubali motors in the pump house here. Here the gates of the reservoir are opened and the same amount is being released to Ranganayakasagar,” he added.
