Hyderabad, July 2 (NSS): Former minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao today lashed out at the Congress government for the “messy” administration in the State. He asked as to why the pallets who were supposed to be kept clean were left in the air.
Speaking to media persons at Telangana Bhavan, he said when the separate State was created, there were only 87 tractors for garbage collection in Telangana gram panchayats and added that after the formation of the BRS government, it created history by providing 12,769 tractors to equal number of panchayats. “There are no awards given by the Centre to the gram panchayats without the Telangana villages. Telangana villages, mandals and districts have excelled. But under the Congress rule, the gram panchayats are in shambles. There is a situation where the people are shedding tears. They are turning into dirty pots. Tractors fell into the corner. This is the situation today. In some places, panchayat secretaries are taking loans and buying diesel. I went to my constituency yesterday. I am speaking clearly only after talking to the authorities. The gram panchayats do not even have money to pay the electricity bills. When KCR was there, he used to pay the electricity bills on time. Every month, the State government used to give money to the gram panchayats and the wages of sanitation workers,” he claimed.
Harish Rao said the administration had now been made in a mess and added that there was no money in the panchayats while noting that garbage has accumulated. He alleged that there was no special drive being held in the State. He wondered if there was no place for sanitation workers in the people’s government? “Did you pay salaries on the first date? It was in the Congress government that the sarpanches had to go and cry out to the Governor. Workers who have not received wages are staging dharnas. Fogging should be done to prevent mosquitoes. Mix the bleaching powder in the water. There is no medicine. The people’s rule is in shambles,” Harish Rao added. (NSS)
