Hyderabad, Aug.8 (NSS): Former minister Harish Rao today said the State government was in a state of shock when they say that gram panchayats were being neglected under the Congress party’s rule and that sanitation management had become difficult due to the non-payment of pending bills. He said State Minister Seethakka was saying that they were lying repeatedly.
He asked whether it was a lie that even though the government was entering its 9th month, the gram panchayats had not been paid even single a paisa?
Stating that Rs 1,000 crore received from the Centre under various schemes such as employment guarantee and health mission, he asked whether it was not a lie that ₹.2,100 crore had been diverted without giving it to the villages? “Is it a lie that ₹.500 crore has been stopped from being given to gram panchayats? Is it a lie that former sarpanches have been detained at police stations when they call for Chalo secretariat program for pending bills? Is it a lie we have said sanitation in gram panchayats has come to an end? Is it a lie that seasonal diseases like dengue and malaria are spreading in villages due to lack of sanitation? Is it a lie that the salaries of sanitation workers have not been paid for two months? Is it a lie that ZPTCs and MPTCs have not been given honorarium for the last eight months? During the BRS regime, gram panchayats were given Rs 275 crore, Isn’t it true that ₹.3,300 crore was released,” Harish Rao directly questioned the Congress government.
Rao said it was not right for this government to suppress the voice of the Opposition without accepting the facts and resolving the issues. He said it was a stark truth that villages had been completely neglected during these eight months of the Congress rule. “I request the government to wake up and release funds to the gram panchayats immediately, Harish Rao demanded
