Harish Rao slams govt over midday meal scheme

Hyderabad, Aug.4 (NSS):Former minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao today reacted to the incident, in which midday meal was served with chilly and oil powder to school students in Kotagiri mandal of Nizamabad district.

Taking to his twitter handle, Rao said he was shocked at the cruel incident and added that under the Congress rule, school students were not even getting mid-day meals in the government schools properly. “The stomachs of the students had to be filled with nutritious food. But they are now forced to eat rice with chilli and oil. The State government has failed to implement the scheme successfully,” he alleged. He claimed that on one had, the prices of vegetables were rising, on the other hand, midday meal workers were struggling as they have not received bills related to the mid-day meals.

“The students, who were starving without proper food, filled their stomachs with rice with chilli and oil. It is sad that the government is treating future citizens of India in such an irresponsible manner. The precious BRS government’s CM’s breakfast scheme, which provides nutritious food to students, has been scrapped by the State government. Now it has failed miserably in providing the nutritious mid-day meals. This is a testimony to the negligent attitude of the Congress government,” he said.

He alleged that the students were not getting proper meals due to the pending bills of the food items and salaries of the workers related to the mid-day meal scheme. He said Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka should immediately respond and pay the pending bills of the mid-day meal scheme and the salaries of the workers.
